    Kilt Socks

I like the look we see often on kilt websites of off white, rolled down socks/hose, such as in the piccie Hamish posted http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2225

Are they kilt hose, or soccer socks? anything special about them?

They look like kilt hose Graham I usually wear my off white kilt hose with my brown boots and get the same effect. I unfortunatly forgot them in the dryer one time and my wife forgot to check when she changed the load, so they shrunk a bit. Still perfect for rolling down, but useless for rolled up with garters and flashes.

Soccer socks should provide the same effect and look, but at a bit of a cheaper cost. The kilt hose will hang a bit looser and look more casual.

That picture actually came from an article in the Scotsman regarding the failed hopes and dreams of the tartan army.

Thanks Colin, just as I thought, and I did wonder where the piccie came from.

I usually use Soccer socks when I'm going to push them down and kilt hose when I'm going to wear my socks up with flashes. I have a couple of pair of kilt hose that had unfortunate experiences with dryers so I push those down sometimes too but since they're thicker and heavier I sometimes think they look like I should be hanging out with ballet dancers. When I wear my socks down I don't roll them though, just pushing them down and letting them bunch up randomly gives a more casual look and feels less restrictive.

Gotta be careful there. Those guys are straying pretty close to the Japanese phenomenon of Rusu Socks (Loose Socks) as worn by Japanses Schoolgirls.

Holding your socks in place with glue? OK. I guess we should be thankful no one had a staple gun handy...
