    lightweight hose

Anyone know where to get acceptable lightweight (and cool) hose for summer? Summer at a latitude somewhat south of Labrador?

I recommend cotton hose for summer wear.

Many forum members have been very satisfied with the cotton Kilt Socks from Hamilton Dry Goods: http://www.hamiltondrygoods.com/sock.html

I just got two pairs of hose from Sock Dreams, but haven't had time to test drive them yet: http://www.sockdreams.com/_shop/page...ductID_862.php

Even before I started wearing kilts I wore wool socks year round. Cotton socks have so many negative things going for them that I won't wear them no matter what. Wool wicks perspiration away from your feet and cotton just absorbs it and holds it there. As much as I hear people say, "I just don't know how you can wear wool socks in the summertime." I still find them much more comfortable than cotton and I have absolutely no problems with my feet and no foot odor problems at all.

So don't toss out the idea of wool before you try it. Some synthetics are still better than cotton, so consider them as well.

If this is the men's department, where are the kilts?

Check with Matt and some of the other vendors on this site. I know they are available because a quick rummage through the tin box that holds all of my kilt stuff yielded a couple of pair of fairly light weight wool hose in Lovat and in fawn. You might also want to try your local BSA store and see what (if anything) they might be able to supply.

I know I wear wool socks year round, but they tend to be thinner than kilt hose

I always wear wool hose too and find them quite comfortable. Agree with the comments about cotton. I find I stay cooler in a lightweight wool sport coat than in an all cotton seersucker sport coat in warm weather.

I am very pleased with my "KILT HOSE" manufactured by W;Brewin & Co. LTD

They are very cheap on Ebay.
