| | | Made To Measure Jackets
Does anyone know if there is a source for Made to measure kilt jackets (formal or otherwise) here in the US? If I'm spending that much for a jacket, I like to get one made more to my measurements than just off the rack. While I'm quite happy with the jackets I got through Kiltstore, if there were a stateside store that sold made to measure jackets, I would prefer patronizing them.

Alexis Malcolm does made to measure jackets. Not inexpensive, but Alexis has a great reputation for quality. http://www.alexismalcolmkilts.bigste...generic12.html

My first traditional kilt was from Alexis and I've got a US Army tartan kilt on order from her.

Kathy Lare measured me up for a jacket last year..."just in case"...never got the interest and the money at the same time....so far.
Think you've already done business with her. check there too.

Let's see, the price for a made to measure Argyll jacket from Alexis is $350. Of course there will be some shipping on top of that.
The same jacket from Kiltstore, with the Xmarks discount is about $330 (depending on currency conversion). On top of that is shipping and probable customs charges.
So the cost is about the same for the jacket. And in all possibility, the jacket could actually come from the same manufacturer, since both places use Scottish suppliers.
I will definitely look to Alexis when I'm ready to get my Argyll jacket. Since I've already got a black formal jacket, I'm thinking of getting the Argyll in a dark green to coordinate with my US Army kilt.
Now, does anyone know of a stateside supplier that does the made to measure day jackets?

Not sure if she orders standard sizes of sews them up. Do know she took very detailed measurements of my upper body when I expressed an interest - like a tailor would. www.kathyskilts.com to find out. She charges extra over size 48. She also offers the same jacket with gauntlet cuffs for $299.00

It looks like Scotland Yard also does jackets that are made to measure. It looks like they only do black however. http://www.scotyard.com/shopping/browse.php?cat=15
