As opposed to the other school which is dress well and include your kilt. This way the kilt seems natural since it isn't spotlighted and framed by matching items.

Then again what do I know I'm still in the very Scottish unkilted group for now.
Your thoughts are as valid as any one else's. I think what you say makes good sense to me.

And I concur as well. I suppose the photo of me that I uploaded wasn't the best visual for this sort of topic. I am definitely one for not matching, and if I wanted to be technical, I could say that my attire above may seem to be matching-mainly due to the photo, however, if one were to observe the outfit in person, they would be able to see that the hose are not of the same colour (a deeper bluish green) as the jacket and waistcoat, the shirt is a cream based tattersal with burgundy, green, and gold checks, the necktie has scarlet, sea foam green, yellow, and black stripes, the Balmoral is black, and the jacket and waistcoat are of lovat blue herringbone tweed. Also my shoes are black (all the time with Highland attire), and my animal-mask sporran has a medium brown leather strap. The only items that absolutely match are the ancient red flashes and the ancient red in my kilt (Macpherson Red Ancient, Heavyweight Strome from Lochcarron) I shall post better examples next time.

I just wanted to point out I was refering to the topic in general not your picture. You look very well put together even if the camera makes some of the colors "match" Though I have to say a personal piper always makes one seem more dapper.

Drat, this means that I can't wear my cool new Scotland rugby shirt with the purple stripes in the sleeves with my Isle of Skye kilt.

Oh yes you can! As long as it was not a conscious thought whilst you were dressing which shirt you were going to wear, then its down to luck. All perfectly acceptable.
