    Matching tam or no?

Okay, so how many of you have a tam that matches your kilt? I wore my matching tam to the Ren faire and I was the only one with one. All of the other Scotsmen in attendance wore a black regimental tam. I think it's something to do with their group that marches in the midday parade. Also, some had a tourrie and some didn't.

I asked one of them why none of their group wore a matching tam and he said that only women wore one. True? Not True?

Can't speak for denizens RenFaires, but my Tams match as often as possible, at least in terms of color, not in Tartan.

I've got a blue balmoral that I bought a while ago, I've never seen a man in a matching tartan tam.

The only one I have that matches in Tartan is my BW. All the others are different.

As a Scotsman I would say that I would not wear a tartan tam with a kilt but would stick to the traditional Regimental type, although many Scots will wear a tam of a different colour i have yet to see anyone wearing a tartan tam to match the kilt. Notwithstanding this what you wear is a matter of personal taste so my advice would be to do whtever you feel most comfortable with.

Ham has this thing of never wearing a matching tartan necktie with a tartan kilt...might extend farther up too....

Okay, so I won't wear my tartan tam anymore. Luckily, I have a black regimental tam left over from scout days. I'll wear it to this Saturday's Texas Scottish Festival. It's supposed to be hot hot hot that day, maybe 99F. I'll be seeking out the shade of the tents. Wishing I had a lightweight kilt now. Maybe a stop at Joann's is in order to see what fabrics they have.
