    My new Sgian Dubh from Matt Caulfield

    This past Thursday morning I went to the post office to pick up my new Sgian Dubh from Matt Caulfield, and I must say that I was extremely impressed with the quality of his work. The Damascus swirls are very pleasing to the eye. I applied a small dab of olive oil to the blade to bring out the Damascus characteristics and protect it from rusting. The blade came unsharpened, and I will leave it that way as I use my Sgian Dubh’s for looks rather than utilitarian uses. However, it has a very nice point and if need be the Sgian Dubh can be used in an offensive or defensive state.

    The sheath is outstanding also and I will have to find a suitable place to display this new addition to my Sgian Dubh collection.
