    My Sgian Dhu

As some of you may recall I have said that I have a sgian dhu that I don't wear. It was one I got with my PC outfit. The stone on the top fell out and the claws weren't to save.So I just shoved it in the draw and never wore it.

Enter Sten Rune. When not making sporrans with me he dabbles in lots of other things and likes a challenge. He told me that he'd got just the thing for a handle. A piece of antler. He'd seen somthing similar worn by one of the distillery guys at the Oslo whisky festival. He knew he could make a better one. The back is flatned so it fits the leg just right and I think the black scabbard doesn't matter as it's in my hose anyway..

This is the result I'm over the moon with delight
...I'll be wearing it to this Fridays Burns night with the Caledonian Soc here in Oslo

A better pic is in my Gallery

Very nice. Is it popular for the people in Norway to use Antler?

Knife making is fairly popular here in Norway Here mostly woodern handles are fitted although I've seen bone and antler handles too..

Sten Rune got his idea from a Scottish sgian dhu he saw at the whisky festival. Knives in Norway are worn on the belt and are not flat like Sgian dhus are
