My sunday Project - personalising my boring black sporran

I bought a cheap black sporran 2 years ago and I haven't worn it much since my Freelander arrived. It had been sitting in my drawer for a long time. I am going to improve its look today. I am takin off the tassels and replacing them with a 20 tooth steel chainring that I took off my mountain bike a few weeks ago.

I will post the before and after picture once the project is finished.

As an Mtn. Biker, my interest is peaked! I've seen the necklaces and braclets made from bike chains and while they are a bit too extreme for me, I like the idea. Looking forward to the pics.

After a trip to my local Rona, I am done.

The Sporran has a personal touch to it, but I am not completely happy with it. Something is missing and I just don't know what.

Maybe if you fasten a pin in the center of that gear doo-hickie... Something generic like a lion or a thistle... Maybe? Maybe an "X"?

Being an avid road cyclist AND mountain biker (I own both a Specialized Hard Rock and a Specialized Transition Multisport), I love the idea.

The only thing I would change in the "after" photo is the color of the lacing on the flap... to match the chainring.

If you could round up a manufacturers emblem and fix it in the center of the cog. A Specialised 'S' would be cool.

It is the balance. It is visually too heavy on the bottom. You need to add some visual weight to the top. Maybe a bicycle chain sporran strap? Or some other kind of snap on the flap.

I do like where you are going with this.

here is an idea...an improvised celtic knot made from bike chain on the flap. Might a bit difficult, but would look cool.

Being quite the fan of Specialized bikes, I think that would rock!
