Need Source for inexpensive Baskethilt Claymores

    Hey guys,
been busy planning the wedding and am in need of a source for cheap $$ baskethilt claymores for the gents in the wedding party. I'd rather not spend too much money, and the average wall-hanger will do fine as long as it looks good.

Just shoot me an email at Psychojeeper@prodigy.net with "Claymore" in the headding.

    Thanks,
    John

    Tee hee... Arrogant b@st@rd...

Had to say something when I saw the avatar!

Sorry, but I don't have much to offer, except I think it's a cool idea for a wedding gift.

John, I think you mean the Baskethilt Broadsword, not Claymore. I found one source that has some for $75 http://www.scottishsword.com/Baskethilts.htm, and another source that sells them for $43.95 http://www.brothersmith-swords.com/c...&affiliate_id=

That same site carries them for $65.95 and also carries targes http://www.brothersmith-swords.com/c...&affiliate_id=

And when you are done with the wedding, you can display the swords properly http://www.brothersmith-swords.com/c...&affiliate_id=

IIRC, last time I looked at Smokey Mountain Knifeworks site (http://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eC...main_front.jsp), they had some Claymores for $59.00 or there about.

I was wrong. Way wrong. Take a look at these:

Claymore Sword with Black Wood Handle $19.99

    brand: Value 901070SL
    ·Stainless steel blade
    ·Black wood handle
·Silver finish cast metal guard and pommel
    ·39-1/2" overall
    ·Leather belt sheath.

    Tomahawk® 54" Claymore Sword $39.99

brand: Tomahawk Trading Co., LLC. XL528
·False-edge mirror polished stainless steel blade
    ·Wood hilt
·Silver finish metal guard and pommel
    ·36" blade length
    ·54" overall length
    ·Stitched leather scabbard

19th Century Scottish Broad Sword $29.99

    brand: Oceanic Linkways OL129
    ·Carbon steel blade
    ·Wire wrapped imitation leather handle
·Brass "basket-hilt" hand guard with cutout hearts and red imitation leather insert
    ·Brass pommel with red tassel
    ·Cast metal scabbard
·40" overall out of scabbard, 42" overall in scabbard.

Do any of these strike your fancy?

    Talk about your Heavy Metal!!!

Those are really inexpensive, less than a dirk IIRC.

For some reason your post made me think of a line from Batman with Michael Keaton.... Just after Joker uses the gas in the museum, and Batman uses a gun/guywire to escape with Vikki Vale..

eBay (www.ebay.com) usually has quite a few "Economy / Cheap" basket hilts. Make sure you do not buy a half size, or childs basket hilt. Make sure you check feedback and 'buyer beware' is the rule of thumb in ebay.

Thanks for the info guys, Im definately on the way to getting this minor project (getting the swords) out of the way.

As it will be a Miliary ceremony I will be wearing my kilt with the formal Mess Dress Jacket. My Best Man & younger brother will be kilted, as will the gent who walks my betrothed down the aisle, the rest will be in Dress Blue uniform. I wanted these swords so that the "Sword Arch" will be Uniformed men with Army Sabres on one side and Kilted men on the other with baskehilted swords. Thanks for the help.

PS: As my lady is welsh, I even got a small Welsh Dragon pin to wear below my Clan kiltpin for the ceremony, I think she'll be surprised.

I've been no help here whatsoever, but I humbly beg that you share that picture with the group when you're done. Sounds like a grand ceremony. Congrats in advance!
