Could this be one of those events where people end up in jail afterward, having had a sort of a good old time?

I have bought from SwordsOnline.com once before, and had nothing to complain about. They are reasonably inexpensive and of a high quality ( depending on what you buy mind you). If you just need something for dress reasons, I see no reason why not to go with them.
I've got one of those. I actually bought it because I fight competetively and needed something with more weight than a shinai to practice with to build up my arm strength. It looks great (especially for the price!) and is well made. I would not recommend it for blade on blade contact... but it sounds like you probably won't be doing much of that. So go for it!

Tell the Minister you're Cameronians and you can carry firearms as well.

Expecting trouble? I've heard of shotgun weddings before, but...

From Jim's description of the wedding party, I wouldn't be too sure!
Seriously, Jim, it sounds like you have a very interesting extended family, and I'll bet the wedding will be fun. Wear a blade, but keep it in the sheath!
