New custom sgian dubh
Several months ago, Drac sought some input on simplifying one of his sgian designs (http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...22/index4.html). I was enamored of his original design, but wanted something a bit more simple, which I'd sketched out in an illustration program. So when Drac asked for suggestions, I posted my sketch. Ultimately, he ended up making a couple of sgians of very similar design (http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...s-sgian-63947/) which I loved.
It was killing me not to have one of my own, but having no barterable skills with which to trade for one of Drac's beauties, I recently commissioned one of my own from a maker out of Florida, Michael Wall of Sandown Forge.
Here's the sketch I sent, followed by photos of the finished product, which I've yet to receive but am expecting any day now. If the photos are anything to go by, I think the maker did a fine job. I'll post a review once I've received the sgian.

I am a big fan of full tang sgians, especially ones as nice looking as yours!

Very nice. I do not usually wear a sgian, but I can see wearing one like that. Thanks for posting!

Nice. There are a lot of fine custom makers out there and looks like you found a good one.

I love the clean, classic lines and the full tang.

Wow! Looks like he did a superb job, and it looks exactly like your rendering. You'll have to wear it to the next Games (in San Antonio) so I can look at it in person!

I've known of Michael's work for quite awhile and had him make me a custom sgian some time ago. Unfortunately, its a bit on the heavy side and doesnt get worn much. I've considered making a belt sheath for it as it is an exceptional knife... its a shame it stays in my sgian box.

Heaviness is a legitimate concern for any full tang sgian... would any of the knife makers or owners of such knives be able to comment on how to deal with that issue?
