Yes,I like that.I presume the metal is silver? Probably has hall marks? If it has, you should be able to find out who made it(assuming UK hallmarks) and when it was made.

    That looks very nice congratulations.

I do like that basket weave handle. A very smart looking blade indeed. Congratulations!

Very nice - I had a similar find last year. Ya gotta love ebay, warts and all.

Not ebay, I found it in the hands of a jeweler in Louisville. He needed to move some things to buy a jeweled dirk. It is silver, and hallmarked. Made in Edinburgh about 1930. The handle pattern was just unique enough to grab me. Blade is a bit discolored, but I think it will polish. Very nice feel, smaller than I normally see, definitely one of a kind. Glad you approve.

One of the hallmarks will(should) be a makers mark.Of course there are several top flight jewellers in Edinburgh who could have made it, but I wonder if it was made by Hamilton & Inches? Does it have a hallmark with H&I,or,HI? If it were mine, I would not clean up the blade too much, nearly 100 years of patina will be very hard to replace. Anyway, well done.

No makers mark. The three are the 925 sterling, city of Edinburgh and the 1930 date code. I've been over it carefully with a jewelers loop and I get no indication that leads me to a maker. I used the silver polish as it is mild. I will leave it as photographed.

Thanks for looking, now I can try to get my courage together and build an every day sgian.

    Very nice.

I'm not a big "sgain dubh" kinda guy. BUT, a nice piece for dress wear is hard to not appreciate.
