Nice casual boots

I've been looking for some black boots to wear with the kilts, but was not having a lot of luck. Most ankle-high stuff in black tended toward work, combat or dress, and while all have their place, I was looking for something more hiking boot like and leather. I found these:



They are super comfortable, look good (can go from outdoor to business casual), and Keen has a great rep for making high quality shoes.

They come in brown as well. Only issue? A bit pricey. But I think I'll get a lot of use out of them, and they are no more expensive than Dr. Martins.

they look pretty good to me. While I like a taller boot with my kilt, I think those would work very well, especially if you one of the kilties who happens to have well-developed leg muscles. On those with thinner legs, the shorter foorwear seem to look abit odd.

I have two pair of Keen shoes and a pair of Keen sandals. I highly recomend them. I work on a concrete floor all day so I'm hard on shoes and I need good support to get through the day. Keens fit the bill better than any other shoe I've tried. The Keen sandals even looked good with Kilt hose at the higland games last year, they looked like an updated version of some of the other people's gillie brouges.

I have 3 pairs of Keens and love all of them. My wife and older son also have Keens...a great shoe/sandal.

I also love Zappos.com. Been using them for a while, free shipping, great service, quick delivery, easy return...typically Zappos runs a discount of
different shoes...maybe check once a month or so

I like a taller boot with my kilt

I've got a pair of SodHoppers knee-high boots - he sewed a sheath into the top of the right boot for me.

They're not actually "historical," but they offer me exactly what I need in footwear: good ankle support, good traction, and a place to stick my orthotics.

Mine are two-toned redwood and tobacco buffalo hide in a "natural" edge cuff at the top, and brown antler buttons.

They look good with a feileadh bhreacain - nothing to completely jar the eye, anyway - and keep me walking better than any other pair of shoes I've got. My set's got at least twelve years of walking in 'em, at least one weekend a month and one week solid every year.

You can never go wrong with Doc Martens - classic, practical, timeless styling; long-lasting; great comfort. They go great with a tank/t-shirt casual combo (& slouched kilt hose) & of course they're perfect for a modern style kilt, like a UK. I've actually been surprised at how often I've been complimented on the Docs when wearing them with my kilts.
