Nifty little device for making garter ties

Someone mentioned a device called the Wonder Knitter. This device allows one to knit without any knitting experience. I thought I'd give it a try and see how it would do in making traditional garter ties.

    The device

I still have to add fringe but I'm quite amazed, this thing does an awesome job in just 15 minutes in the hands of someone who has never knitted in his life

I also saw some books on making knitted hose (including cabling). I bought wool yarn in green, navy, red, and black. Guess what I'm going to be doing today.

That is pretty nifty! Thanks for sharing that.

Oh, I really like your fringe.. you must tell me how you did that. Or send me a set so I can reverse engineer them

The device itself was $8.99, and a ball of wool yarn was $6.99. I now have one set of garter ties finished, and judging from the amount of yarn I have left, I can probably make around 10 more sets - something like $0.60 per set. Not a bad day

I'm not sure about that yet, I'm still waiting for James MacMillan to reply to my PM, his tassels look great.

Check page #5 of his posting to see how he does the tassels

I couldn't resist putting up this photo of a pair of garter ties. They're knitted with the same device described in this thread, originally by James MacMillan.

The colors are red & dark green, selected to reflect the major colors in one of my kilts.

They are comfortable to wear - much more so than the typical elastic flashes.

I've knitted mine to go once 'round my leg and that works just fine for me.

    Slainte yall,
    steve
