Nightstalker nylon cargo sporran ~ A Review

Well, some of you may recall some time ago, I was raving about the fact I'd bought a stillwater Nightstalker Nylon cargo sporran from Jerry and was most impressed with the quality of service as well as the sporran itself.

At the time I promised a review and really did mean to get right on it but I have found that my free time is somewhat curtailed by bad planning in that I have an 18 year age difference between my oldest and youngest children and their demands on my time though different, are fairly constant. Ooooh the joys of parenthood.

Anywhoo, not wishing to wander off my own topic (it's not hard for me really) I guess I should get to it and come up with the goods. If you've already got one of these you'll be familiar with the product so I won't take offence if you skip off to another thread.

Firstly Stillwater Kilts customer service is excellent. I've covered this already so I'll not bore you with it again.

The sporran arrived within two weeks of clicking the paypal confirm button. I think that's pretty swift considering I'm so many transatlantic miles away and once Stillwater have consigned it to the cogs of the postal services it's out of their hands really. There was no duty to pay on arrival but again I suspect this is down to chance.

The packaging was more than adequate to protect the contents in transit.

The sporran itself, Nylon construction. Good stitching. High quality zip closure. Lots of space inside and opens to halfway down the sporran sides allowing plenty of space for big hands.

One downside, it doesn't come with a belt. I resolved that with a 1/2 inch, black leather ladies belt I picked up in some shop I was being dragged round.

Lift up the front pocket and there is a larger pouch tucked away, ideal for mobile phone



The main pouch opens really wide using the heavy duty zips. I can carry my wallet and keys in there without any problems



In fact it's so roomy I found plenty of space to tuck away a few other celtic essentials. It's a great bit of kit and I'm more than happy with it.

Do you like the kilt pin by the way?

I purchased one when they first came out and use it almost daily. They're well constructed and hold up to anything you throw at them.

I love mine! I've been wearing a kilt to gigs lately so the Nightstalker cargo sporran is kind of like a little gig bag for picks, capo, etc. all separate in their own pocket for quick access--no fishing around.

That said, the first time I wore it the "clack clack clack" of the tassels hitting the nylon as I walked kind of made me nuts. The solution: I cut some tiny pieces of adhesive velcro and attached the them to the body. Voila! No more clack and it looks exactly the same.

Errr it's a very roomy sporran indeed. I wanted to put a Cornish Pastie in the picture too but all the shops are shut.

I bought one solely to use with my hiking X Kilt and was surprised that I used it for much more than that. Matching nylon straps and plastic buckles can be purchased at most hardware stores to make a matching nylon kilt belt and sporran belt.

My ENTIRE FAMILY would like to say how much we love that kilt pin!

Panache and The F-H.C.A.G. are rather partial to the scotch to boot!

Of course not, those are for consumption, not carrying around!

I got the Kilt pin on ebay a couple of months ago. Was about £7 including post and it's certainly a bit different from the usual sword type.

Haven't found any in UK Ebay... must have got the last one but they do re-appear from time to time!
