Number of tassels on a sporran
While scanning ebay I noticed several sporrans which could have looked really great, like this one
but that had too many tassels, IMHO
To my eye, it is just too crowded for 5 fat tassels. Perhaps a more narrow leather or horsehair tassel would be OK. Typically though, on a standard size sporran like this I think staying with 3 tassels is a more attractive look.
I also prefer to have a nice 'V' shape to the tassels.
anyone else have any thoughts?

unless you have a formal sporran with five or six small tassles, three or none is the way to go.

It looks to me that they tried to style it after a military dress sporran and it just doesn't work. Far too cluttered looking.

0 or 3 for daywear, 3 or maybe 5 "cross link" for a dress sporran. I'm not fond of the fluffy fur tassels...I prefer the "brush" type.
For semi-dress I prefer a leather sporran without fur...with a cantle and studded tassels.
I like the look of the classic Argyll and Sutherland badger sporran with the 6 tassels...will look great with a full dress doublet outfit
