One surprise ruined- so here's another...

My darling husband went and bought a kilt. So my surprise is over...

    In one way.

He wants a Gunn ancient. Good for you, dear. Sadly, he dosn't have a formal sporran. Poor baby.

So... anyone have any suggestions? I've got about $350 socked away. Should I go for fur or clan crest? Anyone got something good for that price that needs a nice home? I feel kinda silly asking for suggestions, but I've always checked out design, not price!

I just bought a kilt from this eBay store: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Kilts-by-He...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

He has plenty of nice-looking sporrans, too, for far less than your budgeted amount.

Personally, I think spending that much on a sporran is insane.

The ones with animal heads are the best, and certainly have the greatest impact when worn with yer "Wanna pet my sporran?" T-shirt.

I want one with a bull elk head - with antlers - for those people who stand too close.

    which style sporran?

Shay -- do you attend many formal/black tie affairs? If not, then I would suggest going with a day sporran first. It's just me, but I personally don't like to see fur sporrans being worn in the day, especially dress sporrans with all their silver and chrome.

    Just my twa bob's worth...

    Cheers,

    Todd

Call me a prude, but I don't think I'm going to buy my husband an animal head sporran so people can pet it!

Oh- the budget was socked away for the kilt, but I'd rather get something that's handmade than not. And I realize they're often more expensive.

He does have a nice enough day sporran that Rocky sold us and a casual sporran, too. We won't be going to black tie affairs all that often, but would a formal sporran be out of place at fancy office parties, weddings, and New Years' parties? Those are just three things I can think of off the top of my head coming up in next couple months.

Again, it depends: 1). Are these "formal" affairs and 2). Will he be wearing formal attire (Argyll, PC, etc.)?

    Cheers,

    Todd
