Plaids made of PV?

does anyone own a plaid made of pv rather than 100% wool?

Sorta kinda maybe....have a "scarf" thingie from SportKilts that is polycotton.

as not many have responded, the reason i ask the question is that i'd like to have plaids made for my two daughters and wife to use as shawls, wraps, etc..., but at the moment i can't justify the expense of three wool plaids. add to that the fact that my daughters would most probably put theirs' through the ringer in terms of dropping them, letting them hit the ground, and so on... and a pv plaid sort of made sense when i first made the post.

just wondering if anyone had done such a thing. i know some of the international vendors on ebay sell "mixed fibre" kilts and plaids. don't know how high the wool content is in those.

While I don't own a PV plaid, there is no reason it couldn't be done. An 11 oz. Polyester-Viscose plaid would be the same weight as an 11 oz. woollen one. P-V fringes just as easily as wool.

My wife has a 90" sash of PV to match my Clark PV kilt. We wanted a sash to match and since the kilt is PV, and we wanted it in a hurry for an event. soo -- it's fine. Both kilt and sash from Sport Kilt. If you get a plaid, have the fabric the same as your kilt.

When she gets a wool one, it will be Danish National tartan, with a matching skirt. She has Danish-German ancestry.

i realize that the plaids would not exactly match my existing wool kilt. just wondering if anyone had any outstanding reasons for not pursuing the idea, or any positive experience in owning one themselves, such as provided by spartan.

I am a fibre snob and tend to shy away from anything synthetic or mixed with synthetic fibres. This, however, is strictly a matter of personal taste. There is no good reason not to get plaids made out of PV ... especially when your two daughters might damage expensive wool plaids.

I had USA Kilts make one for my Wife to match my kilt. Worked out well. While the PV isn't as soft and flexible as a cashmere shawl might be it worked well for the occasions where we wanted to match.

I've seen several advertised. I believe that company has them for around $27.

However you can buy 100% wool for $45. Might make a special birthday or Christmas gift for the wife or daughters. Ebay seller: CARSE OF GOWRIE Kilts and Kiltmaker. Either way, what you want is available.
