    The Pratt

After hearing the term “Four in Hand” used several times I figured I would search the internet to find out what it meant. Not only did I learn what a Four in Hand is I tried several new ways to tie one. I have always used a Half Windsor to create a relatively symmetrical knot that is about the right size for my neck and face shape. One of the Knots I tried is the Pratt. I am 6’2” and long waisted so this is a great knot for me because it uses up less of the tie. It comes out quite symmetrical and is easier to to cinch cleanly. It is now my second favorite knot.

I'm always interested in different ways to tie the same old ties. I alternate between a regular four-in-hand, double knot, and full Windsor.

Perhaps you could describe how to tie the Pratt or provide a link to a page with an explanation? And we'll need some pictures to prove it actually happened

Here is a video. Notice that you begin with the tie inside out.

I recall a discussion here on the forum that went along the lines of the Windsor being the only correct or proper way to tie one's tie.

I think the Pratt comes out a little smaller than the Half Windsor, so might work out well with the button down collars that have the narrower opening, and in place of a Four-In-Hand knot; might be wrong though.

A lot of my favorite ties are of thick material, and a Windsor would not work with them
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
