    Royal Cuff Kilt Hose

Announcing... new at the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop...

    ROYAL CUFF KILT HOSE
    made by the Royal Fleecery

The body for these hose is the same as that of our popular Lewis hose. 50% merino wool blend, reenforced foot for extra durability in the toe and heel. Eighteen colors to choose from.

But the top (cuff) is completely hand knit in one of four customizable designs. The yarn is a very high quality 100% merino wool.

These are similar in style to the Balmoral hose we used to offer, which were discontinued by the company in Scotland as not being "cost efficient." We've found a way to work with local knitters to offer a product that we are very proud of, increase your style options, and support local artisans at the same time. All for a price $25 less than the Balmoral hose sold at!

    Here is the order page:

And now, the obligatory teaser pics...

Wonderful news Matt I've been looking forward to these sense you announced they were to become available. I have next week off work and was thinking about traveling down to North Carolina perhaps I'll talk to you about a pair when I'm down.

Wow, Glen, from Ontario to NC is quite a drive! (We used to have some wonderful museum volunteers who lived part of the year in Kincardine, ON, and were constantly making the trip).

Let me know when you'll be in the area!

I know it's a long drive but I've got the time and I like driving, Google maps says it will be a 14 hour drive from my door to the museum. I was thinking though to start off Sunday after the games here, stop for Sunday night then make it down for sometime Monday.

Matt unfortunately with the washout that was the Fergus games I am absolutely knackered and would not possible be able to contemplate the drive, let alone complete itsafely, so it is with a heavy heart that I must cancel that part of my vacation. I'll be in touch about the hose tops though I would like a pair to go with the Carolina kilt. I'm not sure what pattern though so I'll have to talk to you about that as well as colour.

Those are absolutely beautiful, Matt. I know your lovely wife has been doing a lot of knitting for you personally and I am assuming at least some of these are her work. What a talented woman!
And the price on the site seems really reasonable for such a high quality product!

Matt, these are beautiful. I really like the cabled cuff. I have a few questions: first, are these going to be offered in a fully fashioned version? second, how are the cuffs attached to the hose? and finally (off topic) is the kilt shown with the basket weave cuffs a weathered MacLeod of Harris tartan, and if so are the colors that I am seeing accurate (grey-green and olive brown)?

Fantastic! I need to start with yet another piggy bank to save up for at least one pair of these.

    Glen,

Sorry to hear that. I was looking forward to your visit. But in truth, it may be a fortuitous delay, as my personal schedule this next week is pretty jam packed full. So now I'll just look forward to a future visit!
