Security of the Sporran

I finally tried on my Sporran with a kilt in anticipation of going to an event kilted. I must say, that the presence of the sporran is kind of soothing. It is almost like wearing armor for your family jewels. It gives me an odd sense of comfort.

Where do you guys hang out? Even when wearing pants, protection of the jewels from attack or injury was never at the top of my mind. Maybe you hang around with a different crowd?

I will agree that a sporran does provide an additional layer of protection if somebody tries to punch you in the cojones, but somebody aiming a kick is still going to come in under the radar (or sporran)!

In the past week I was "kilt checked" twice in three days! The sporran also provides "protection" against that - although the side of the front apron was lifted, all that was revealed was a little "cheek."

Whenever my nephews or nieces are around protecting the jewels is a top priority. Every one of those little ankle-bitters seems to think it is hilarious to run around aimlessly and then at random punch a male relative in the crotch. And their parents do nothing to stop the brats. They drive me insane sometimes. I've only 2 that I can stand and that's only because they are actually well-behaved little gentlemen. They'll be in my upcoming wedding as ring-bearers and as part of the wedding party they will be the only children allowed at the reception.

I hear ya, Phil. Yeah, kids are the biggest threat to my dangling participles. Even if they are not swinging fists to watch men flinch, just their lack of coordination can send their heavy skulls crashing into sporrans.

Yeah, a sporran isn't a substitute for an athletic cup, but it is better than nothing. I wonder if that is why some sporrans are made out of animal faces? Ya know, to scare off potential threats?

All hail the sporran, even with kilts with pockets becoming fashionable (have a couple meself) the sporran is hard to beat, practical, comfy, protective, a great invention.

My little one has the typical lack of attention span problems.
Seems that he almost always gets sidetracked while walking or running and smashes into or trips over things. Luckily for me, he's now just tall enough that he misses the jewels & smacks his head into the big pewter belt buckle. It gets his full attention in a hurry!
