Semper Fi Cluster
Was wearing my Leatherneck tartan kilt today and realized I had a "Semper Fi cluster" of goodies on board.

Thats the 13 ounce Leatherneck tartan from Strathmore Mills hand sewn by Kathy Lare of Kathy's Kilts. USMC kiltpin. Miniature Kabar sgian dubh,
Lewis kilt hose with hand made traditional garter ties by a grizzled olde Marine - Jay.
Thought it was pretty cool so snapped a pic. Was wearing the kilt in honor of my late brother (Marine Air then D.I.) was his birthday yesterday, so a day late seemed to fit.

Yesterday was my birthday too, also a Marine.
Looks good Ron, I like the mini Kabar.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

Yesterday wasn't my birthday, I'm not a Marine, but that's a great kilt pin!

Ron, that looks great and what a way to honor your brother.
Two questions, how do you like the 13 ounce fabric compared to the 16 ounce?
And where did you find the mini-kbar sgian? (I have to get one of those for the Marine!Goth!!!)

where'd that mini ka-bar come from if you don't mind my asking?
By the way, the outfit looks pretty sharp....pun intended

The 13 ounce weight is what you'd expect, just a hair lighter than the 16 ounce and heavier than the 10/11 oz. Don't notice a difference.
The min Kabar is actually a replica letter opener made of aluminum. Kathy Lare's husband Rob makes a leather sheath for them with an EGA logo on the sheath. You can connect with her at www.kathyskilts.com A great source of accessories as well as kilts.
Guessing you could get the letter opener alone if you Googled Kabar letteropener or something like that.

Major kudos Ron!
I was lucky enough also to receive that kilt pin as a Christmas present this year! It has become the standard pin for my leatherneck kilts. I guess I should get a few more, so I don't have to change it around so much.
Did you know that the design comes from the etching/engraving on the Staff NCO sword?
