You will notice what "doesn't" look good, either that or others will tell you.

Most anything looks OK, but sometimes looks will clash.
For formal situations Ghillies or wingtips, or even standard "dress" shoes may do fine.

Depends what ELSE you're wearing with the kilt. Don't wear boots with your Prince Charlie jacket.

For a great assortment as to kilt wearing and what to wear with it, I would suggest checking out our own Hamish's photo gallery. You can connect it through any of the posts made by Hamish.

That's the best answer. The kilt can go from very casual to very formal, so what type of footwear depends on the level of formality.

First off, welcome aboard. What to wear depends on the look your after, casual, formal etc. Some good advice would be to go through the photo section and see whats being worn.

I usually wear my Doc Marten brogues.

Then again, I wore them all the time before I wore kilts, so nothing's changed.

Since I'm usally hiking on the weekend its Vasque or Bates boots. Comfort above all. I have declined to try my cowboy boots and spurs with the kilt.

Cowboy boots are probably one of the more humorous choices.

OK Ham, Let's see a picture of a "Kilt in Cowboy boots". If anyone could pull it off it would be you! ;)
