Sometimes, Its The Accessories That Connect With Strangers
So Saturday morning I'm eating breakfast with my lady at our local Ranch House Grill, a hangout for locals rather than tourists.
I'm wearing my new Leatherneck tartan kilt. As we are walking out a guy at another table says, "Semper Fi" So I stopped to shake hands and chat. I said, "Wow, you recognized the Leatherneck tartan!" He said, "No, I recognized your jacket, but now I know the tartan."
I was also wearing a jacket emblazoned with USMC emblems...duh Ron....
Sometimes I get so focused on my kilts I forget I'm wearing other "tells."

This is one of the few times I've ever been tempted to use the phrase 'Facepalm'.
At least he now knows what that tartan looks like. Sparking any interest is always good.

Cool story. I am jealous. I do not wear US military tartans out f respect. I do understand that others wear them for the same reason & I'm OK with that. The Marine Corps was the service I tried to join right out of high school. I got “caught.” I only have 1 eye. The other was shot out with an arrow when I was 2.

If this is the men's department, where are the kilts?

Wow. This is freaking weird. If you're not joking anyway.
There was an accident when I was born and one of my eyes is pretty much useless. Basically just looks like if you've ever seen an elderly person with a cataract. Anyway, I too only have one eye (basically) and tried to join the Marines straight out of high school (lots of family history with the Marines) and was disallowed entry for the same reason. And I love kilts too. Seems we've a bit in common.

I had the end of a snorkel go into my open eye and scratch it once, and I like kilts too. In all seriousness though no disrespect is meant. It can't be easy going through life with no depth perception.
