Sometimes, We Match The Kilt To The Accessory

Our local domestic violence shelter held a fund raising casino night tonight. Since I'm on the board I was expected to show up...even though I was too good in math have any interest in gambling. I do own a Mirage jacket that I thought would add to the flavor of the event so wanted to wear that for sure.

So instead of choosing a kilt and dressing to that, I chose the jacket and had to find a kilt to go with that. My USA Kilts MacLean Hunting in semi-trad emerged as the best choice. Added an off green linen shirt, black kilt hose, and white garter ties to sort of match the white in the tartan.

Went with my custom L&M dress beaver fur sporran since I have so few excuses to wear it, but ditched the chain for a black sporran strap.

Couple hundred people there and the only comment I got was about my Navajo sgian dubh - which doesn't show in the pics. "Is that a knife?" from the husband of a coworker....yes, its a knife, a small knife, its called a sgian dubh etc. etc.

Not being a gambler I put all the chips they gave me on red on the roulette wheel and won. Quit and didn't win any auction bids but did get a silly little clock as a door prize. But hey, for a good cause. God knows our 32 bed shelter stays full and overflows into motel rooms most of the time. Rough country for relationships.

As Requested:

Its the top one. Found it in the knife department of a local trading post. They didn't know the maker. I like it for the handle that shows above my kilt hose and adds a bit of "local color" to my kilted look.

Even though I was forced to take Calc, adv Calc, Stats, and so on, in pursuit of my Degree, I still love to gamble. One of my profs. said I would be better off flushing my money down the toilet. I told her that nobody would bring me free drinks while I was doing it.

Ron that looks like a David Yellowhorse handle on a Buck blade. He did (maybe still does?) quite a lot of them for the Buck custom shop.
