Spectators?
On the dress shoe idea... has anyone ever worn or seen someone wear spectators with a kilt?
I'm wondering if, in the right combination, it could work...

I don't know Derek, maybe with a black and white tartan such as one of the Scott tartans, or possibly SWK's Nightstalker or Shadow Tartan kilts.

True enough. The thought simply crossed my mind after looking at the rather extensive Formal Kilted Pictures thread; some of the more formal wear isn't "standard" and looks wonderful, and I got to thinking...
...which can be dangerous, I know.
Anyways... possibly the white could compliment the white in many dress tartans, or even with brown/white spectators, maybe the brown could compliment hunting or even weathered tartans; I'm curious if anyone's ever done this to see if it works at all.

Just a bit too busy for my taste.

...surely you jest! In the UK we call those "correspondent" shoes, because they were popularly believed to be the type of shoe worn by the "other man" named in a divorce case. I think the biggest problem you'd face in the USA is that it would look like you were wearing golf shoes.

A Fondness for Shoes
Being quite the shoe collector (up to 39 pairs now) I have tried this look a couple of times, and i don't care for it. I think it takes away from the kilt.

I love the look of spectators, especially in white/brown. They're just classy!

I like spectators, but they seem more appropriate with a boater and seer-sucker suit.

They are Two-Toned shoes

The specific design or style varies.....
