Ah, good to know. I had not thought of that. Thanks Casey.

I find that a tiny blob of "Blu-Tack" behind each tassel, which is then pressed against the leather face of the sporran, holds them nicely (and silently) in place whilst walking/hiking. After the walk, just rub off the "Blu-Tack" and the tassels swing freely. Perfick!!
Perhaps we could have a new section on the board, with Hamish's 'how to do it' tips. It could be called "Ham'll Fix It".

I just think of the tapping on my sporran as the drums of my own personal theme music.

A sporran isn't difficult to make really. Mine took a few hours, but only because I hand punched the lacing holes. The fake fur I just cemented on with a product called Unique Stitch. I think in actual work time I put about 4 or 5 hours in it.

    Bubba,

If you can find a copy of the July/August 1999 issue or the LeatherCrafter & Saddler's Journal, you can find a sporran pattern.

If you can't find a copy of the magazine, send me an e-mail at dochudson2 at yahoo.com and I will send you a copy of the article and pattern.

The thing with most of those sporrans is they are extremely stiff and awkward to get your hand into as well as not having much room. That's why I made one. I made the gusset a bit wider and used leather that's stiff, but not as rigid as a board. Much easier to get things in and out of than the one I bought.

Bubba, have you ever seen the "rob Roy" type sporrans? they seem softer and easier to get into. I agree with your assessment.
