    sporran modification/parts

    OK, so here's the idea.....

First, I LOVE my Freelander sporran, no ifs ands or buts.....

Now, if you have seen my other posts, you know that I am going the modified Eton jacket route for semi-formal wear, so........

Anyway, I bought a small brooch that I am going to use as the sporran closure on my black sporran, for a dressier look....

In the same spirit, I am thinking of using silver balls at the ends of the leather thongs on the sporran...

Now, any ideas where one may find these things???

I don't have a clue about balls, but an idea I've been toying with is these cones.
with horse hair tassels. They're a little pricey but you might could find hair and make your own tassels at better prices.

How large of a bead are you looking for? 20mm, 30mm, etc? How large of a tassel are you going to be putting them on?

    I haven't decided quite yet, but I was thinking 12 - 20 mm.

If I use round beads - no tassel.

Only a tassel if I use cones....

This site has some unique large silver beads made by the Karen Hill Tribes in Burma and Thailand (got to support the Thai economy!)

This is a celtic bead about 1/2" in diameter, but I couldn't find the hole diameter.

    Yet again. . .
this site has the largest plain round silver bead I could find. Let me know what size you are looking for and in what shape. I can find cheap silver in all shapes and sizes here in Turkey, and would be willing to keep my eyes open if you can't find anything back home.

I think I like these although I wish they were just a hair thicker.
