    Sporran question

I recently purchased a sporran and it doesn't have a belt/chain. What would you suggest I do? I have thought a bought purchaseing a length of nice chain and using that. There is allot of talk about how a leather belt is better...Can i buy just the belt?...could I make the belt?

    Thanks everybody

Absolutely! The sporran belt can be purchased from Scottish Lion if you can't find it anywhere else. Like bcmtnbka suggests, check Bear or your local sources You can also make your own fairly easily with material from a leather craft shop or by modifing either a narrow belt or even a dog leash.

A sporran strap is easy to make. 2 clips, a buckle, 4 rivets and some leather strap. I made mine in just a few minutes.

You might also have luck at a women's boutique finding a really thin belt. That is, if you're not opposed to being accused of wearing a ladie's garment.

When I bought my sporran at the Renn Faire, the had very thin and long belts to cut to length. I would say it's maybe a half-ingh wide. Works for me.

What shop did you go to and how much did you pay? I'm curious because I've made a few for friends and I'm trying to get the boss to carry a sporran in addition to his belt pouches.

i got my sporran from scottish lion and it s for me thebest looking and all in good quality.
but the leather belt from them is quite fluffy in the
inner side... i like the look of a chain better at all.

Look in my Gallery ...It's one I made for myself. It was easy. You just have to go to the craft shop. The clips are for handbag straps and the belt is 1 inch wide. You can get lesther cut to width and length manty places

I hope this helps and / or inspires

    All the Best.....David.
