I've had the sporran for a couple of months, but this was the first opportunity to wear it. It's the Exotic Leather Sporran from Celtic Croft:

It's a nice sporran that I thought would be a good semi-dress sporran for dressing up with a jacket and tie. The little colored insert is fish leather and comes in red, blue, and green.

Like most dress sporrans, it has very little capacity. If I didn't have pockets in my jacket, I couldn't have carried my wallet, change purse, and keys all at the same time. Also, since it's stiff, it pushes up funny when you sit down.

Something that can be either good or bad, the metal tassels against the leather set up a real rhythm section when you walk.
Lose something valuable to you and don't know who can help?

fish leather? that is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing. It does look like a very nice sporran, though.

Could have some fun with it and put a false eye in the center of the blue ring. Would really turn some heads!

I think a black leather dress sporran is versatile enough to wear with both a semi-formal and a formal outfit. The fish leather is interesting, but its color might limit the tartans it can be worn with. Stiffness seems to be a common drawback of this type of sporran.

I got mine with the red leather insert specifically to coordinate with my MacIan tartan which is mostly red, but yeah one color wouldn't work with all tartans.

The skin (is that the correct term?) of certain fish was popular to make shoes from during the the German occupation of Norway 1940-1945.

My sporran with a green maltese cross is made with fish leather for the cross. I quite like it.
