| | | Sporran Stuck in Customs
I ordered a very nice vintage dress sporran on ebay from Britain, and unfortunately it is stuck in customs I believe.
The tracking number provided me by the seller shows an arrival in NYC at a place called ISC on Feb 28th. After that there is no more information, and I have not recieved the sporran.
Anyone been in this position before and can offer me advice? I'm in a bit of a panic at the moment.
Thanks.

I feel your pain, I had the same thing happen, sporran coming into Canada, held in customs for a week ... or two, it did eventually show up. I believe the sender would have to initiate an investigation if needed. Wompet may have some insight...
Cheers
Dave

Well the seller never listed it as seal skin, and I never asked. It appeared to me to possibly be seal skin and mink. It was also only stamped leather no mention of the fur type.
If customs was to confiscate it I assume they would have sent me a letter?

No idea about them sending you a letter, or possibly the sender of the sporran a letter. This is why most sporran makers, when importing pieces to the US, will not make it out of seal and clearly mark the item as bovine (or whatever it's made out of).
The ambiguity of the labeling might have customs suspecting that it is indeed seal, even if it isn't.

What is odd is that there simply aren't any more updates other than the initial arrival in the United States to ISC.

Dave | Thanks. Maybe there is hope! So far it's been in the U.S. 8 days hopefully it will be released soon.

It may just be due to the fact it's coming from out of the country. When I had a kilt sent from Scotland it also was held up in customs with no explenation. It did in fact finally come through, although it did take a while.
I would expect no communication from them. I would imagine you recieved this information through your vender, I would stay in contact with them on it. Good luck.

How long did it take for your kilt?

I have had prescription drugs confiscated when being shipped to me from Canada.
I received a polite form letter in the mail about the confiscation. For what its worth, when it comes to prescription drugs, the sender merely sends off another package that then safely arrives.
