    Sporrans-In Progress

I got started on two new sporrans this weekend. The one on the left below is a Masonic symbol for a friend. The one on the right is a rampant lion with a few simplifications from my first practice piece.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words on my previous Welsh Dragon sporran. Some of you make kilts, some kilt pins. I enjoy the leather working. For those who inquired about sales, I'm a long way from that stage, but I retire in about 4 more years. I plan on settling in southwest Michigan. There seems to be a lot of highland games and festivals in that upper mid-west region. I'm looking forward to traveling around to as many as I can.

I also have to be careful in Germany. The US-German Status of Forces Agreement limits what I can sell without getting a license and paying taxes. Don't think I want to get into that yet. One of the quirks of working over here.

I should be finished in a week or two and will post final pics then. I'm thinking about making a Hay clan crest (it has an eagle, should be challenging) and then maybe a thistle symbol. That should keep me busy until Christmas!

It's great seeing all your pics and the different ways people put them together. Thanks for sharing.

Those look great, Tom. Yes, the "SOFA" is a complex beast. I wouldn't want to delve into that myself either.

    Finished No. 2 and No.3

Here are the finished sporrans Number 2 and Number 3.

Thanks to all for your encouragement.

These were better than the first, but not where I think I can be. Now I need to get some more materials.

Those look great! Now, the only SOFA I know about is the one I am sitting on, but I would love to get one of those when you turn pro!
