I would think that "aftermarket" probably refers to something that was once a fur stole or jacket and has been "re-purposed" as a sporran.

AA | It's definitely not otter-it's muskrat. Otters faces are very different and their fur is a dark brown, with some lighter areas.

The eBay one looks nothing like the original, which was part of my point. The Morrison one actually pictured in the thread (as eBay blocks photo links) was for reference and comparison, since the auction item is stamped Morrison.
The auction item in question bears little resemblance to either yours (which has a definable nose) or the Morrison sporran (which is much more vague, in the company image). The eBay image looks exactly like mine, yet the fur is matted/missing in places, and looks like it needs a good brushing! It is definitely muskrat mate.

It just needs a good brushing and it will look just fine. Heck, I should bid on it too! I'd wear it whilst in the hills; allow it to get wet, dirty, and not even worry about it! I don't think this particular sporran looks like roadkill, those home-made, huge animal-mask sporrans that I have seen, tend to look more like roadkill and very poorly made. This version, like I said, is a lot like my own muskrat version, it just needs a wee bit of care.

I am unrepentant, though, in my personal belief that it looks like a teddy bear who ran afoul with a vat of treacle.
