Anybody know where to find them? Also, What is a micro-tartan or mini-tartan and where do you get them? Just curious.

Not sure about the tartan hose maybe do a google search, but I think the mini tartan is what suzie is wearing in this picture:

Higgins's tartan and diced hose do not have a good track record. A friend of mine and I both ordered tartan hose from them several years ago to match our kilts, and both pairs frayed and wore out very quickly, even after we followed the "care and feeding" instructions.

I would suggest as an alternative, the Tartan Thistle in Washington State:

I bought a pair from them, 100%, hand-knitted, and they are much, much better than Higgins -- you pay a bit more, but you get what you pay for.

    Regards,

    Todd

Man, I have a hard time spending the $20-50 on a good pair of kilt hose.... I can't believe I would drop $100 on socks.. (that's 1/4 the cost of a Matt Newsome box pleat!)

My bro and sis-in-law are always looking for something to buy me for Christmas. This year, I asked my mom if she was still knitting, as she knit some diced hose for my brother many years ago. She said no, but my sis-in-law brightened up....you see, she knits, and for my retirement, she knit me a lovely Argyll sweater that goes wonderfully with my Loch Ness SK. She has all year to knit them, and the expense of the material is not that great, so, I wait in anticipation for next Christmas, and some lovely Argyll hose in hunting MacIntosh colours. Now, to measure my legs and send them email, to my brother...then wait.
