Trainers yes or no?

While on my way home today I realised I have a pair of trainers which I really like that I haven’t worn for about 6 months or so mainly due to me wearing boots or shoes with my kilts when I’m at home during the weekends or out and about kilted.
So who wears trainers with their kilts? Or what do you think about them?
I’m thinking traditional tartan kilts but solid colour and UK’s etc too. And pics wouldn’t go amiss if you have them

I wear mine from time to time with the kilt. You can't wear boots or dress shoes everyday.

It helps that mine are Black, most of the time nobody even notices.

Hi Jordan. I often wear trainers with my kilts when out and about casually.
I feel (for obvious reasons) that when there are other kilt-wearers around it helps me stand out a little bit more. At The Gathering and Pipe Band Championships I wore my green and white Nike Dunks as they are waterproof and are a bit like short wellies, and they really aided me. At other times I've worn my black Adidas mids, and I recently got a pair of all-black Nike hi-tops which look a little like boots.

At first I was thinking either my brown Nike Dunks or the green & white ones:

I went with the green ones and had many complimentary comments:

Not the best pic but you can see my Adidas Top-Ten mids. I wore my socks pulled up as it was freezing!

Generally I'll wear my new Nike highs from now on as they are very similar to boots. They are like these, though, are all leather with no other material:

I wouldnt really wear white or low trainers with my kilts.

What's under Glen's kilt?? Well... That's a whole other story.... (sorry, had to do it...)

In all seriousness, I'm starting to wonder if I could pull off the sneaker thing. Something else I have to look into...

I often wear lightweight hiking shoes which while not exactly athletic trainers (or tennis shoes as they are oft called here in the states) are casual upper design and with an aggressive tread. Mine are by Merrell but lots of hiking shoe companies make similar.

If I get into a situation where I need to wear light colored trainers, I just wear cream hose so there is not too much contrast.
