Two New Kilt Pins
Picked up two new kilt pins recently.
This one I found in a local antique shop. Think it's a peacock, but nicely enameled, whatever it is. Fastens with a regular pin.

The brass Lion rampant I found on eBay at a price where I could easily afford three. Fastening is with two pins with rubber backs in place of the usual clutch type.

Cool, lions and peacocks.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Mind ye, I'm no ornithologist (though I can spell it!), but I would almost guess that the first pin (and a stunner it is) might sooner be someone's depiction of a bird of paradise, especially as they were such a popular motif in art nouveau jewelry.
Nonetheless, both of those pins look really great; I'd be happy to wear the lion on most any tartan!
Congrats!

The peacock is very nice and goes well with that tartan. And, oddly enough, I purchased the same Lion Rampant on ebay- you are right about the price- I think it was around $6.00 including S/H. I didn't care for the rubber backed pins- I had a hard time removing them, I tried clutch backings too, but the diameter of the pins was just small enough to keep the clutches loose, and I finally lost one. So I whipped out my trusty dremel with a grinding head and took the pins off and replaced with a straight pin/clasp assembly and attached it using Gorilla Glue- you don't ever want to use too much of that-so after grinding away all the excess bubbled up Gorilla Glue, the pin sits nicely on my Stewart Black, right now resting on the top of my thigh as I type. Its a nice pin. Good purchase, long story.

There's that ever-versatile Stewart Black again!

Brian, they both look great. The peacock really goes well with that tartan .
