| | | Warm weather kilt hose
I like the appearance of kilt hose with my kilts. I do not care for the appearance of shorter socks, and bare legs are only just a bit better than short socks. That said, what do the rabble recommend when the temperature is in the nineties and so is the humidity? Washington DC was at one time considered a subtropical hardship post by Great Britain's diplomatic service. With warmer weather fast approaching, I have to make some decisions.
Advice please, O great and learned kilt wearers?

Try to buy fingering yarn hose, knit in a tight weave using a #0 -#3 knitting needle. You are welcome to see some if you follow my signature. Quote:

Geoff Withnell | Although I live in the PNW ( low humidity) During the summer. I attend events that are in the 90s -100s.

These are Over the knee socks, usually worn with "pantaloons", BUT I wear them with kilts (below the Knee & plain colors) I will be wearing them this weekend & will be posting some pix. http://www.fugawee.com/stockings.htm

Ya, the thinner and perhaps the looser knit hose tend to work better. We have a dry heat folowed by a wet heat out here. I've found that the issue tends to be in the foot area, and have read of thin cotton, sock liners being suggested.

I've tried a couple of things that work pretty well. I had some cotton kilt hose from Hamilton Dry Goods and I wore a thin, nylon foot sock under them. The other was wearing the 70% wool and 30% nylon Pipers Hose. Personally, I think the Pipers Hose were the best option for looks and comfort in the Georgia summers. Not that my feet didn't sweat either way but they felt cooler with the wool/nylon sock.

I like SportKilts "Regular" socks for summer wear in Florida (summer's 11 months long here). Can't be beat for $8.00.

| | Ribbed, but subtly; not like cable-knit or anything. But they are thin and cool in hot weather.
