Warm weather kilt hose

The shop Puffer suggested is great.

When it gets hot out on a casual day, a good pair of flip flops does the trick for me. I recommend Reefs, a good mix of style and comfort.

I like SportKilts "Regular" socks for summer wear in Florida (summer's 11 months long here). Can't be beat for $8.00.

These are listed as "one size fits all" As John Madden noted in his book title, "One Size Doesn't Fit All". Have any of the giant economy size rabble tried these. I wear a 13-15 US sock size.

I'm about an 18" - 19" calve. I bought a pair of "standard" hose and the cuff stretched out so thin it looked horrible and felt even worse constricted around my calve. I've never worn them again. My quest for nice looking, comfortable hose began.

Since donning the kilt with kilt hose I have learned one thing is a fact. "Standard" sizes in kilt hose DO NOT fit a person with larger than average calves. We have to buy larger sizes or socks labeled full-fit. The hose I've seen from sportkilt are basically the same soccer socks you can buy at Dicks sporting goods. NOt really good on my large calves. The folks I know who have socks that will handle my calves are:

Hamilton Dry Goods kilt hose
Gaelic Themes Pipers Hose

I don't know if the Brewin hose will accommodate large legs.

The Brewin hose in the large size fit my 19 calves fine. Altho fairly light as kilt hose go, I was hoping for something a tad lighter yet. I suspect I am going to stay with bare legs in the summer when not going formal, and try to stay with air conditioning when formal.

I forgot where I got them, but I've got a pair of cotton kilt hose that do pretty well in the heat.

Try www.sockdreams.com They have all kinds of socks (mostly women's, but don't let that put you off. Lots of styles in cotton and cotton blends. I'm not sure about the calf girth issue. I'm going to be ordering some in the near future for warm weather use and will report back.

With hints of Spring was just thinking the same thing. It is HOT where I live in the summer and always had to resort to bare legs and sandals.

The SportKilt "hose" are soccer sox...I have a bunch and have picked up soccer sox in sporting goods stores - but they're hot and my legs stretch them to a "see through" state which just looks weird.

Maybe if I shaved my legs and had kilt hose tattooed on....but what color....???

I live in South GA. It is really hot here, especially March through November. I wear all cotton soccer socks from the local athletic store for casual to slightly dressy events. They are plenty long and cool and available in a variety of colors.
