What colour flashes to wear with maple leaf tartan

I am waiting on my maple leaf tartan kilt comoming from Pete at Canadian casual kilts sometime this week. I bought a pair of claret coloured hose from Cairncorm in Toronto, so what is the best coloured flashes to wear. I have a pair of red Gordon Highlander ones but they don't look right, any sugestions from some of the many who own a maple leaf kilt.

First choice... Take Ron's advice. If you prefer/have solid flashes, you could wear red, black, or brownish-gold. Just pick one of the predominate colors from the tartan and pick a separate color for your hose. I think red flashes with brown hose would look sharp.

Goes to show how much I was over thinking this whole thing. I was out matching up the tartan to your hose and possible flash colors. Too early for me...yeah that's it...too early.

    For solids...

If you can, get a couple of pairs (different colors, of course) in the shades georgeblack7 suggestes; that way you can mix and match depending on the rest of your outfit (hose, shirt, etc.).

I wear both a yellow pair of garter ties, and a red pair with mine, however it will come with matching flashes from Pete, mine did and I have worn it with those too.

I'd go with matching flashes, and solid color hose that pick up one of the tartan colors.
