    Where the buckle should be

I have seen some coments on sporran belts and their buckles somewhere here. Where do you guys think the buckle should be? In the center back? On the side? I kinda think on one side so the end of the belt would still run to the back, but the buckle wouldn't bother you when you sit and lean back. Just curious.

I prefer the buckle somewhere on the back. It should fall in the small of the back which would prevent it from being uncomfortable. If you really feel the buckle you may be wearing it too high or too low.

The buckle on the side could create more friction on the kilt or look off balance. I have seen some wear sporran belts (no snap hooks) with the buckle right down by the sporran and it looked better than having the buckle up on the hip.

I prefer the back, for the reasons just mentioned.

The buckle on the hip would look pretty bad.

For both aesthetics and practicality, I voted on the back, centered.

On the back. Especially if you have a sporran chain, wouldn't you look lopsided by putting it on the side?

I sometimes use an inexpensive belt without a keeper. I'll put that buckle on the side, and tuck the end of the belt under the sporran. Usually the buckle is covered by something else.

If it were leather, I'd cut it to size and burnish the end. As it is my only brown strap, I'll use it this way or make a keeper for it, until it's replaced.
