Why are sporran flasks round?
Is it because sporrans tend to be rounded, so the round flask would fit better? Or is there some other reason?

A sphere would be the most economical use of space, but that would be tough to fit in a sporran.

How about this:
Take something with a sharp corner like a regular flask and rub it against your kilt for hours to mimic what would happen during an average day of walking. How long before you have a hole?

You lot deserve a round of applause after all that witty banter
Jimbo, I could see that being an argument for rounded sporrans... but once the flask is inside said sporran, I'd imagine it becomes less of a factor for the flask itself. Even with a soft bag-style sporran, I don't think it'd wear the wool too badly.

Well, they are typically round, yes. However, just because it's most common doesn't mean it's a requirement. I made this for a friend who happens to be a Cunningham, and is a recent immigrant. He puts it in his sporran and it seems to work just fine!

And notice- no sharp edges! That's why I like this type of flask.
