Wood Kilt Pins

I was looking for a wooden kilt pin and came up with this selection http://www.lindaclifford.com/KiltPinWoodGrp.html I know Graham that you also fancy one. I have tried to get a local IE Scottish supplier for James Young of Pitlochry but I have had no success yet. I am hoping to be in Scotland next summer so I might see them in some shop. I really would like one, especially one made of Yew. It just seems silly to order them from Maine and have to pay all the extra costs when Pitlochery is so close as the crow flies.

If I had an extra hour a day I could make those types of wooden kilt pins by the dozen!
I was a woodturner before becoming a kiltmaker and sold my xmas tree ornaments for $8.00. With a pin, I'd sell wooden kilt pins for $10.00 or just give one with each kilt.
I'd like them to be wider and flat on the back that lays against the kilt.
Maybe I can find an hour a week? Maybe I'll give it a whirl.

That's too daggum funny! The company that I owned before USAKilts was "The Colonial Prairie Wood Shop". We made custom cabinets, and produced custom furniture to match client's existing pieces!

What is it about woodworking and kilts?

35 dollars is the asking price of the wood kilt pins by James Young of Pitlochry. He also does a fine range of Sgian Dubh also on the Linda Clifford web site. If you make a wooden kilt pin at 10 dollars Bear I would buy it no problem

My company was Fathom Woodcraft. It was mainly turning but I wouldn't turn my nose up at some restoration or custom work.
I've always wanted to be a writer and have spent years honing that skill. I can even spell hockey! (heh heh)

BTW, I am an excellent turner. I've given many private lessons and some of my students have become very fine turners themselves.
I've made everything from tree ornaments to solid oak piano legs. Very heavy, those. (When your lathe starts chasing you across the room, it's probable you've miscalculated the centre.)
