    X and Rampant Lion buckles

I went by Target (the retail store here in the US) on the way home from the store (I went to the one in Simpsonville, SC), and got two belts on clearance ($10 each-US).

Only downside-> both are 1.5 inches. A bit on the small side for a kilt.

    One-> dark brown belt
Buckle-> BIG X in silver (potmarked in black)-> about 3x3
It looks like a well aged "X Marks" belt
The belt is riveted together around the buckle-> not removable without cutting or modification of the belt.

Other-> med brown with light brown inset stripe running middle length of belt.
Buckle-> Silver RAMPANT LION!!! Just over 3" tall
The belt is made with snaps, so the buckle is removable.

These are heavy weight metal. They are "pewter" or "satin" silver, not polished.

They could be easily converted into large heavy kilt pins (might be too heavy).

    OR

Form the basis for a Kilt belt (2" belt with cut down to 1.5" around buckle).

I am tempted to go back and get 2 more (1 of each), just for the buckles.

Macwage, is this the rampant lion one? If so, it works fine for a kilt belt, I have it already and you can see it in some of my pics.

That's not a rampant lion. Look at the wings. Is it a gryphon? A dragon, maybe?

It's cool, whatever it is, but it's not...

The X is Just a big X (like the central X of the X Marks pin)

The Lion is JUST the lion (no background)
it looks like the lion on the flag
(THAT is why I just had to buy it . . . )

    Now, tomorrow . . .

All in driving range of a Target
    Let's wipe 'em out

I agree, those two sure look like heraldic lions to me. May have to stop in a Target.
