Thanks, Jock. I might get one as I described: navy blue with red toorie. After a few months of wadding it up and stomping on it, it should be good to go.

I wore my balmoral for about 20 years both in kils and in street clothing. Had my clan badge on it.

Does your Balmoral have a cockade on the side. If it does then it would look 'bear' without a badge. If it doesn't have a cockade then it probably wouldn't look too bad, just like an ordinary beret. I have a black Balmoral (with clan crest badge) and an ex army tam o shanter which I wear all the time, kilt or no kilt. The t.o.s. has had it's tartan flash removed and I don't wear a badge with this.
