I think you are exactly right, Barry!! This is what I will do.

I agree, Ted...I think it would look great!

Hello,
Thank you for that very kind compliment. I'm always willing to help a friend out and you all, I consider, are friends .
Ted,
That outfit you are considering sounds quite nice.

Oh yes Ted, the balmoral is worn, informally, with or without the kilt as a matter of course.

Thanks, Jock. I might get one as I described: navy blue with red toorie. After a few months of wadding it up and stomping on it, it should be good to go.

I wore my balmoral for about 20 years both in kils and in street clothing. Had my clan badge on it.

Does your Balmoral have a cockade on the side. If it does then it would look 'bear' without a badge. If it doesn't have a cockade then it probably wouldn't look too bad, just like an ordinary beret. I have a black Balmoral (with clan crest badge) and an ex army tam o shanter which I wear all the time, kilt or no kilt. The t.o.s. has had it's tartan flash removed and I don't wear a badge with this.

Let us know how it goes with the balmoral "badging", I'd like to hear if it ends up growing on you.
