It was tongue in cheek. It was from his oats episode, which was season 5 episode 2 (I'm a fan of his). However, he gives a real haggis recipe at food network.

Alton Brown is an amazing teacher.

For all of you out there who think you can't cook, watch his fabulous TV show (Good Eats) or buy his wonderful book Food+Heat=Cooking. He makes it easy and fun. I knew about the Haggis skit from the Oatmeal episode but I did not know that Alton was a kiltie!

    Cheers

Good Eats, we're addicted. There is also every episode posted to YouTube.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.
