    Bagpipes & the movies...

Since we've had a rash of kilt (and piper) sightings in movies recently, for your information and perusal, a very great (and time-wasting) site:

    http://fraser.cc/pipes/movies.html

The site is being updated all the time; for instance, "Men with brooms" is not currently listed (I sent him an e-mail on that one!)

    Happy surfing!

The "Devil's Brigade" is about my Dad's outfit in WWII.

Casey -- your Dad was in the 1st Special Service Force? Wow. I am impressed. The movie does not do the real story of the Devil's Brigade justice.

    Check out:

    http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/

And scroll down to the very bottom on the left-hand side. You will see a hyperlink for "Canadian Army on film", and then there will be a link for The Devil's Brigade, which is a very interesting article about the film and the real history behind it.

    Cheers,

    Todd,

Interesting reading. I still remember the hearing my Dad give us the lowdown after we saw the movie for the first time, in the theatre. We were actually guests of the theatre.

    Bagpipes & the movies

I have been on the site before. I sent him an email about the Sylvester Stallone movie "Driven" (2001). In the movie there is a scene featuring a pipe band. The funny thing about it is the pipes are played by two pipers recorded on multiple tracks and put together to sound as if it where band playing it. The pipers happen to be Kyf Brewer (Pipe Sergeant, Loch Rannoch Pipes & Drums & Barleyjuice front man) and Keith Swanson (Pipe Major, Loch Rannoch Pipes & Drums & Barleyjuice founder). I emailed him several times but as of yet he has not updated the site.

Son, someday you will make a girl very happy for a short period of time. Then she'll leave you and be with new men who are ten times better than you could ever hope to be. These men wear kilts.

I havent seen the movie, but in the commercial for Million Dollar Baby they showed a scene where two kilted pipers lead Swank and Eastwood down the stairs into the ring.
