    Bedknobs and Broomsticks

I was channel surfing while waiting for the weather to come on the local news, and I stumbled across "Bedknobs and Broomsticks." I hadn't seen it in a decade or so, and I do like the ending, so I flipped back to it after the weather.
There's two very brief scenes at the end which make me mention it here. The first is when the Germans first realize something is wrong - where they hear (and see) an empty piper's uniform standing on the overlooking cliff, playing the bagpipes - accompanied by two drummers. The second is when all of the empty uniforms and armor collapse - on the right edge of the screen, you can just see that the kilt and its jacket are the last things to fall down.
The uniform looked to be WWI era, and the kilt Black Watch - it was kind of hard to tell, they had the lighting low so the audience wouldn't see the wires.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

    This is a fun movie.

Earlier in the movie - about midway through, there is a big song and dance number called "Portobello Road".

There are two different instances of Kilted soldiers. One is a group of four (one in trousers) and they do a short dance number for some ladies.

The other is near the end of the song and there are a whole bunch of people dancing - one of which is a kilted soldier.

Sorry - not sure of the tartan.

I loved that movie as a kid. Such a fun story line and cute songs. And of course, they've got kilts in the movie.

My wife and I actually bonded early on in our relationship over reminiscing about this film. I was apparently the only person she's ever dated who immediately got her reference to the Isle of Nabooboo.

She doesn't know it yet, but she's getting it on DVD for her birthday in April
