Burger King Commercial
Hey...
There's a few burger king commercials running right now for their "chicken fries" or whatever they're called. In the commercials with the band playing on stage (I've seen 2 variations of the "band" commercial), the guitarist is wearing a kilt. The shots are kind of jumpy and quick, but he is DEFINITELY wearing one. It's a red tartan... can't make it out.
Can anyone make out the name of the band? It's on the stage behind them. I am pretty sure it's just a spoof, but I was wondering if it was a real band.

From what I've read it was Coq Roq.
There was another thread on this somewhere on XMarks, but I don't recall where at the moment.

Rocky - go to www.coqroq.com . The site itself is really well done. The band was created just for Burger King by an ad agency called Crispin Porter & Bogusky. They did that boxing chicken thing, too.

Even with the chicken lyrics, the songs are pretty cool. After William Hung remixes, Coq Roq is my new guilty pleasure. Both are assured a safe place on my Ipod.

Silverlake... these guys are some GREAT back-up studio musicians. Two are actually in the "Celtic" scene. Unfortunately, the one with the kilt is NOT an Irish/Scottish in the least. Funny thing is that they're better actors than they are singers! They do commercials, and just got REAL lucky with this gig. One of the guys is actually a good friend.
The kilt is a good one, but is in "not the greatest shape" since he's trying to look a little "frayed". It looked a WHOLE LOT nicer when he received it!

This Ronald Macdonald is grimacing...BK in a kilt!!
Ronald McDonald should be in a kilt! ....or does that clash with the hip hop scene McD's is marketing their brand of poison to?

Jimmy - your friends... who are they? Have they put out any music on their own that I might be able to get hold of? By the way, I didn't mean to equate the mighty Coq Roq with the not-so-mighty William Hung... only that it feels a bit funny to be rocking out to chicken songs!

Hey Jim... What do you mean that they're in the "Celtic Scene?" Are they in any bands? What albums have they played on (as backup studio musicians)?
Can you ask the guy what tartan he has... it's buggin me. Also where did he get it?
