David Ross at Walk for Wallace site
David Ross is a Scottish history writer, biker and supporter of independance ( hope this doesn't violate rule aginst politics?).
This site:

has photos of Mr. Ross in his Belted Plaid

He appeared last year at the Celebration of Celts in mid-state New York. It was a very powerful presentation he gave about Scottish identity. I was moved, and I'm not even Scottish!

those were some awesome pictures. I wish I could have been there.

His book are just as good. There is one about his walk entitled "For Freedom". I recomend them all.
You can order them here: http://www.davidrross.org/books.htm
Enjoy,

If I am not mistaken (I thought I was once, but I was wrong) Mr. Ross was at the Grandfather Mountain Games a few years back, touring with Albanach. He was a very inspiring speaker.

Jimmie - "A'richt, let's get started."

I met him at the Fergus Highland Games last year, it was great to meet him.

Thanks for the link. David Ross is great. I have seen videos of him at the Grandfather Mountan Games ala Albannach. He is a very knowledgeable man...saw a documentary on Sir William Wallace on the History Channel and David Ross was one of the contributing historians. McMurdo: it must have been a great experience to meet him.

He come's to the Fergus festival every two years to speak. He seems to be spending more time here because of a new book and his wife to be is from here. We (MacHummel and I) met her two years ago in Fergus and again in Owen Sound at there festival in the early fall. If they are still together they should have married (i think she said) last summer in Scotland. I didn't have a chance to ask last year.
If you get the chance to see him speak I highly recommend it. He's interesting, knowledgeable and funny. I don't very often have time to go at festivals when I help MacHummel at his CCK booth but catch him when I can.

David Rosss is both a funny and an inspirational speaker. I met him and heard him speak at both the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and Williamsburg Scottish festival last year. He is slated to be back at GMHG this July. He does a great opening with Albanach.

They did get married! I use to order my copies of his books from Keri's shop, Cloaks and Daggers, but the site is down now. She always went out of her way for me to get my copies signed. I hope all is well with them and the site is up again soon, I am interested to read what he writes about The Black Douglas. There are a couple of clips on the Scotland on TV site that are pretty good too.
