You're getting to a real pet peeve of mine, I've been a league bowler for more than 20 years. A few years ago, the men's santioning body, The ABC started allowing women to purchase a sanction card so they could bowl in the men's district, state and national tournaments. The women's organization, the WIBC did not allow men to bowl in the women's tournaments. Last year, the ABC and the WIBC merged to form a new organization which sanctioned both men and women as well as youth bowlers. Now you'd think that this would have leveled the playing field, but it did not. The USBC simply created a women's division. Not only do the women still have their own tournaments, but they also pay less for their membership. So, there are still women's tournaments, but men's tournaments are now about as extinct as DoDo birds. To make this more kilt related, I am strarting to see ,more women wearing not only UKs and such, but at The last Richmond games I saw several women wearing tartaned kilts too. It seems that most women are of the opinion that when it comes to things for men only or women only, there is no longer a "yours, mine, and ours (for both sexes)" but just a "mine and ours" My suggestion for golf is that if women want to play in the men's tournament, create a new major tournament where the men and women compete against each other, maybe a "Mixed open" Bowling has a mixed tournament, but the men and women bowl on the same teams. I'd like to see a handicap tournament where men and women bowled against each other also. Who knows, maybe the men in kilts and the women in skirts.

    Interesting.
There's a guy in Vancouver trying to get a membership in an all women gym near his house.
In both cases, the discussion seems to avoid the pertinent points and mock the guy. Why try to have a meaningful discussion when it's so much easier to get ratings by making fun of men?
On the local 'serious'talk radio, a woman radio host called the local guy a wimp, a trouble-maker, and asked why does he even want to be around all those women who don't want him around?
In short, the host acted the same way men used to act when women wanted to get into men's clubs.

    Kilts are garments, not costumes!

Just when the bowling season starts for my son's high school and I have to take him out to practice! And I was wondering how wearing the kilt bowling would work out!

I probably wouldn't really bowl in a kilt. Women pro bowlers used to bowl in skirts, and some women do still bowl in a skirt, so with a proper release, I don't see a problem with showing anything while bowling in a kilt. In my case, since I have osteo arthitus in both knees, my release isn't what you'd call proper. And, if I should stick badly at the foul line, I would probably fall and end up with the kilt over my head.

Serves them right. I think more men should be questioning these "women's only facilities". All the same excuses women have used to get access to "men's only" clubs and facilities for decades apply to these same situations. You can't have it both ways ladies.

Why can't women except that sometimes we don't want to be around women. It's nothing against them at all. Men need a contructive outlet to associate with members of their gender as well.

I'm surprised no one here commented on what really pissed me off about this story - the idea that his wearing a kilt and shaving his legs would qualify him for a women's tournament, as if kilts are some sort of feminine garment!

I say the next time this idiot plays in Scotland or anywhere else, we all pelt him with haggises.
